While the ownership remains intact with John Warren as sole proprietor, over the summer Savannah's Cafe (1113 Central Ave., St Petersburg) made some changes. Chef Sal Merola, formerly of the St Pete Yacht Club, joined the team in late spring and went to work on menu changes and tightening up the kitchen staff to put out a more focused and well presented product. The aim is still to showcase Lowcountry cuisine, but while bringing in elements from African, Caribbean, American Indian, French, English and Spanish cuisines. Jeremiah Charles (formerly GM of Ceviche in St Pete and consultant to Bowled Restaurant) came on board at the same time and began making front of house staff changes, introduced a new specialty cocktail list and a Southern craft beer menu. He and new sommelier C.J. Ash (formerly a server at Bern's Steakhouse) rewrote the wine list as well.
