Mother's Day deals around Tampa Bay
So much love for the mothers out there this year. Here’s a healthy sampling.
At The Refinery, they’re doing a regular Mother’s Day brunch on May 9. Moms get their first mimosa free and each mom will get to pull from the "Coupon Basket of Love." What is the Coupon Basket of Love you ask? It's a basket filled with coupons; such as a "free hug" or a "free car wash." The small print will read that the mother's child(ren) will be responsible for completion of said coupon. There will, however, be one $25 dollar gift card, a few $10 & $5 dollar cards and a few "Free House Painting"/ "Free Dress Shopping Day"/ "Free Neil Diamond Sing-a-long Day." According to co-owner Michelle, they “will also have Captain Seanie Mack DJing the very best pre 1985 Yacht Rock on the Lido Deck.” Reservations recommended.
The traditional Mother's Day Brunch at Pelagia features a twist this year that give kids a chef's hat and a turn at creating their own pancakes. Kids get to work with the chefs to flip the flapjacks, then top with appropriately decadent doodads. Children will be provided paper chef hats and supervised by a professional chef as they help prepare pancakes and add their choice of toppings. The pancake station will be operating from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Mother’s Day; $35 per person for adults and $14 per person for children, ages 12 and under.
The Venue will host its annual All-Day Mother’s Day Brunch with live jazz music by Lester Freeman and complementary mimosas from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with final seating at 4 p.m. on May 9. There will be carving stations, create-your-own omelet and waffle stations and a pasta bar. At the bar, all-you-can-drink Bloody Marys are an extra $10, with brunch priced at $29.95 per person, and kids under 5 eat free.
Spoto' s Steak Joint has been doing Mother's Day stuff since 1972, this year offering a three-course dinner with a choice of lobster bisque or house salad; then citrus-rubbed Chilean sea bass topped with crab-mango chutney, jasmine rice and asparagus, or pistachio-crusted Colorado lamb chops with duchesse potatoes and asparagus or tornedos Oscar Neopolitan; then for dessert chocolate souffle bread pudding. The menu is $26.95 per person and the regular menu is also available.
At Bob Spoto's Grill 131, there are a couple of Mother’s Day specials. Choose from a 10-ounce filet mignon, sauteed snapper or an 8-ounce cold water lobster tail. Then for dessert, it's "breakfast in bed": stuffed French toasted banana brulee with orange sorbet. The special also includes a soup or salad and one side item. $49 per person, served from 5 p.m., reservations suggested.
The Columbia will be open for Mother’s Day at six Columbia Restaurants throughout
Florida, including Ybor City, downtown St. Petersburg at The Pier and in Sand Key on Clearwater Beach in the Tampa Bay area, and accepting reservations. The regular menu will be in effect along with specials such as: Coca (a Catalonian flatbread), mahi mahi "Torremolinos," veal chop "La Reina Isabella" and a dessert called "Bizcocho de Coco" (a buttery layered coconut cream-filled cake garnished with grilled pineapple compote).Clearwater Beach Hyatt is doing Mother's Day stuff a couple of ways. There's a brunch at the resort’s Belleair room overlooking the Gulf of Mexico featuring carving stations, made-to-order eggs and omelets, a seafood bar and more. Mom receives a complimentary long-stemmed rose. $54.95 adults, $19.95 children. Seatings are at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. At the hotel's Sandava Spa, with the purchase of one 60- or 90-minute treatment, receive 50 percent off a second spa treatment for Mom, along with a pair of complimentary "Zendals."
