Calling all athletic divas
I have to admit that I am not a very outdoorsy person by nature. The only time I have been camping -- a college-sponsored trek through the Adirondacks -- my friend and I seriously contemplated injuring ourselves so that we would no longer have to lug enormous backpacks through the woods while being feasted on by mosquitoes.
However, for the more athletically inclined, I've got a site for you. It's called Steep and Cheap, and it offers outdoor apparel for ridiculously low prices. Tomorrow is women's gear day, so you may want to get your credit cards ready.
Here's the way it works: Steep and Cheap offers one product at a time. The item -- say, a t-shirt -- is discounted between 50 and 80 percent. The t-shirt will be the only thing featured on the Web site until it sells out. Then something else pops up.
Steep and Cheap offers gear and apparel from Patagonia, The North Face, Oakley and more at rock bottom prices. And you can set it up
so you receive e-mail alerts when there's a new featured item.
The site strongly discourages reselling items. In fact, if you're caught posting something you've bought on E-bay, you might get your Steep and Cheap privileges revoked. But that's not a very Diva thing to do, anyway.
