Reader Question: The perfect snakeskin pump
Deal Divas:
Where can i find a pair of affordable snakeskin pumps? i want to wear them to a career convention next month. I'm looking for something with a short heel, preferably pointed toe. price range: $100. - C, from New Port Richey
Dear Camille, I, too, am of the Slithern ilk. (Not to be confused with the mean kids in Harry Potter.) I also love that you're being realistic and going for a shorter-heeled shoe for a "career convention" as opposed to wearing a stilleto pump that will surely have you wincing by the end of the day while you're trying to make a good impression to the big wigs and get noticed by that cute colleague at the bar.
There's something about snake skin that screams "I cost a lot!" But guess what? Most of the snakeskin we buy isn't the real thing, it's only a print (An exhale is heard around PETA's headquarters.) To ensure your fake snake looks good, always go for a softer more flaky (or scaly) texture. Here are a few to consider...
1. Ju
st what the doctor ordered. Nine West's Nuncio Pump is less than 3-inches and has a bold python print that makes it edgy, yet professional. At $79, it slithers below your price point. Available at Macy's stores.

2. Sure, it's a little off the beaten path, but this
cute sling-back, open-toe number screams CLASS and it's so ultra feminine. Pair this pump with a tailored red pencil skirt suit and those recruiters might be checking for more than typos on your resume. Available at Dillard's stores: $98.

3. I swear I read your question, but I couldn't resist suggesting these two-toned met
allic numbers. The heel is 3.5 inches tall, but I bet you won't even notice the extra inches when you glide down the hall in this jazzy pair of pumps. Pair them with a chocolate wrap dress and work the room. Available at Macy's: $89.

4.
These are lot like the first option, but these bone-colored heels are more traditional reptile print. This sexy serpent shoe has a 2.5-inch heel and sleek pointy toe. Pair them with a bold colored skirt, like orange or yellow, and a crisp white shirt for a business-ready, yet fashion forward look! Available at Aldo's stores: $80.
