High heels, highly networked
You're looking for a place to wear those hot-to-trot stilettos. You're looking for a chance to network, because who isn't these days?
Look no further than the third annual High Power in High Heels event.
It's a networking event, feminine style. (Women have come a long way, so why not have networking events that cater to our tastes, and not just the frat boys in the corner offices?) The idea here is to exchange biz cards while ooohing and aaahing over the latest trends in the Nordstrom shoe department.
I've attended this event for the past two years, and I have to say it has offered more for shopping than networking, especially for a shy girl like me. This year, the organizers are planning to focus the event more tightly in the store -- and on shoes only -- to help foster intimacy and getting-to-know-you's.
Tickets are $25 online, or at the event, which is Sunday morning, Sept. 20. It includes a champagne brunch. Proceeds benefit Dress for Success. And what's not to like about a morning dedicated to women who aren't afraid of power, or high heels?

Coming from a long line of fashionable women, Kim Wilmath considers herself lucky to fit into their hand-me-downs.
