Red hot Valentine’s Day gift and date ideas

With Valentine's Day happening next Wednesday, you actually have plenty of time to come up with a romantic gesture for your boo. Here are a few suggestions to help set hearts aflutter.

Flowers: The traditional gift might seem to lack creativity, but not if you actually create an arrangement yourself. Try your hand at O'Berry's Succulents' Aphrodite Love Wreath workshop at Green Bench Brewery on Saturday. Using a mix of foliage and succulents, you'll create a wreath that includes oils, flowers and herbs steeped in traditional Greek mythology and love rituals. The wreath will keep for months with proper care, and the succulents can be replanted. It costs $55, with all materials included. Reserve your spot at oberryssucculents.com. 2-4 p.m. at 1133 Baum Ave. N, St. Petersburg.

Jewelry: Turn this customary gift on its head by choosing something funky and fun from Rock Shop. True to its name, the boutique has a wide selection of jewelry with precious and semiprecious gemstones, at a variety of price points. Right now, they’re offering a 20 percent discount on the Lana Lopez turquoise collection. Rock Shop’s hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday. 529 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. rockshopjewelry.com.

Singing Valentines: If this doesn't knock your sweetheart's socks off, I don't know what will. For $50, a tuxedo-clad quartet from the Florida Suncoast Barbershop Chorus serenade your love with two songs and present a rose and a box of candy. They'll travel anywhere in Pinellas County within a two-hour time frame, from Saturday through Wednesday.  Call their Love Line at (727) 276-6205.  In Hillsborough, the Heralds of Harmony have packages of $25-$80 at (813) 228-7730 and ordersingingvalentine.com.
