Salty Roots Salon and Boutique offers the best of both worlds while the Japanese Sword Show is a collector’s dream

One-Stop Shop: Salty Roots Salon and Boutique
A fairly recent addition to St. Pete's Grand Central District is also a very welcome one. Salty Roots Salon and Boutique is the brainchild of best friends Sarah Mayer and Leah LeSure, who decided to combine LeSure's expertise as a hairstylist with Mayer's experience of owning a clothing boutique. They secured the space at 2646 Central Ave. that was formerly Doc's Place of Antiques and transformed it into a boho-chic oasis where you can get pampered and do some shopping. Touches of macrame and rattan on the boutique side complement the items found there: caftans that can be worn over shorts or bathing suits, simple jewelry from local makers and a sweet collection of swimwear.

On the salon side, get all the expected services, including extensions, bold colors and glittery strands of tinsel subtly placed in your hair. Unlike at some salons, a stylist works on Sundays and Mondays. You can also get a facial from aesthetician Erin Holliday's Thee Skin Studio within the salon. I recently had my first facial ever from Holliday, and she made me a believer in adding them to your personal care routine. She uses a line of all-natural and organic products, and facials range from $45 to $105. saltyrootsboutique.com.
Read more about my facial in Saturday's Personal Best.
