Go retro this week at Artpool’s Gatsby Gala and the Antiquarian Book Fair

RIP-ROARING: ARTPOOL'S GATSBY GALA
Artpool gallery has been showcasing local art and funky fashion in St. Pete for 10 years now, and to celebrate, they're having a 1920s-themed Gatsby Gala on Saturday. So break out the fringe and feathers and practice your Charleston, 'cause this party is sure to be the bee's knees. Festivities include a '20s themed art exhibit and runway show, and music so you can dance the night away. Don't have a stitch to wear? Look no further than Artpool itself to find your glad rags. 8 p.m.-midnight at 2030 Central Ave. Admission is 10 clams, or 20 for VIP with seating at the runway. artpoolrules.com.

CLASSIC: FLORIDA ANTIQUARIAN BOOK FAIR
Old books are quite magical. They're tangible links to the past, possess that wonderfully distinctive smell and preserve history in not only their content, but also with illustrations, typography and cover art. "The Book As Art" is the theme of this year's Florida Antiquarian Book Fair, which returns Friday through Sunday to the Coliseum in St. Petersburg. More than 100 specialized dealers will have out-of-print books, first editions, fine bindings, maps, autographs and other paper collectibles available for sale. Admission is $10 on Friday, which will be good all weekend, or $6 per day Saturday-Sunday. Proceeds benefit the St. Petersburg Public Library. floridabooksellers.com.
