A very merry (and marry) My Outfit Monday
It is serendipitous that my My Outfit Monday falls on this day, because I acquired a new accessory yesterday that I'd like to share with all you Divas readers: An engagement ring!
That's right: My longtime boyfriend of [insert cough noise to obscure large number] years proposed this weekend. I'll spare you the mushy details and just say it was magical and surprising and we are very happy but also I am excited about this new piece of jewelry on my finger. I let the sparkly new bauble guide my choice of accessories for an outfit that was in need of some brightening.
Today's look is the result of a whirlwind weekend, the madness that comes with there being only 10 days until Christmas, and this really unfortunate bit of timing: I caught the Office Plague this weekend. I didn't want to have to worry about being uncomfortable in my clothes as I continue to hack up a lung. I needed something comfy and forgiving. So I grabbed a lace tunic and skinny jeans out of my closet and decided that would do.
The turquoise top is an American Rag find from Macy's, which was 75 percent off during a Black Friday sale, bringing the total down to $14. It buttons all the way down the front, and ties in the back, so it's a bit fitted, which I love. I paired that with a pair of dark-washed Old Navy skinny jeans that I have had since the dawn of time, purchased during one of their $19 jean sales. And for the sparkles: On my feet are $8 Chico's Miracle Sale shoes that you've probably seen before, because I wear them constantly. They are shimmery and glittery and fit perfectly. The earrings were a $3 bargain from the Kohl's Lauren Conrad jewelry section. Tired look and subpar makeup brought to you by sickness.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go stare at my new ring and drift off into a Nyquil-induced slumber. May your holidays be as bright as my shoes!
