American Music Awards Red Carpet: Beautful women in sheer dresses and not much else

We couldn't let the day pass without commenting on the annual hot mess parade affectionately titled the American Music Awards.

Sheers dominated yet another red carpet, making me scream for the speedy death of this dead tired trend that has given us more thigh and under boob than we can handle in our lifetimes. Literally everyone's cups runneth over.

Jennifer Lopez hosted the night with 10 looks -- each more sheer than necessary and tackier than should be allowed in public, but that's her brand, God bless her. #neverchange

Pretty much everyone else lost the battle against being forgettable save for a few ladies who nailed it or totally missed the point like my picks for the best and worst of the night. Mind you, both of my choices look stunning, but they were chosen as best and worst based on how the outfit sits in context with the venue.

It needs to be said, Zendaya Coleman has been killing red carpets all over the place and American Music Awards were no exception. Coleman, 19, donned a pink Emmanuel Ungaro number that looked incredibly off season for this time of year. But that's just part of what made the final look such an attention grabber. She resisted floor length gown madness and showed up in a mini skirt with one of the only sheer tops of the night that didn't make me clutch my pearls at the obscenity. She looked pretty and put together, but more important she looked comfortable.

On the other side of the spectrum is the beautiful Gigi Hadid, who decided that the AMAs was an awesome time air out the girls. Hadid, 20, looked more like a adult film star accepting her lifetime achievement award at than a model at major music award show. The cleavage straps on the top create the illusion that her bosom is about to burst forth and run away, not the cutest way to highlight a major asset. I'm sure this Bao Tranchi, two-piece ensemble would be more at home on MTV's Video Music Awards than the ABC-aired AMAs. Gigi Hadid is always going to be one of the best looking women in th room, whether she put on gown or a trash bag. There are more clever, edgy and interesting way to highlight that beauty without a boob-revealing window.
