Accidentally on trend with bargain gold-dipped flats
Sunday marked my first trip to Marshalls as a St. Petersburg resident.
Actually -- and this is embarrassing -- it was probably my first trip to Marshalls ever. You're laughing, aren't you? Please stop, I'm sensitive. I'm a former small-town girl, and we didn't have these things.
Point is, I cleaned up, scoring several sorely-needed tops, tops, tops, tops-tops-tops tops for work. And the Marsh Madness didn't stop there.
Look at these gold-dipped flats coated in iridescent, neutral paint by BCBGeneration. For $25, my heart leapt, and my wallet opened, and I forgot all about how I went in the store for plain black flats.
Since I'm also very humble and tight-lipped about these finds, I spent Monday doing a lot of bragging to colleagues. Deal Diva Stephanie could have told me to can it. Instead she made my day, showing me this page from her US Weekly magazine.
Looks like we're calling this trend, which I'm apparently on, along with all of the Hollywood stars, the cap-toe.
I love, love all of these heels, except for the Christian Louboutins worn by Brooklyn Decker and Beyonce. I dislike the plastic part of the shoe so much, not to mention the fact that the scientific community is basically unanimous about the unattractiveness of toe cartilage. Points for covering up, Solange Knowles.
Anyway, the article confirmed something else for me: I've been on trend many months now.
I bought these linen flats with a neon pink toe at T.J. Maxx this spring for probably $20. They are UNIONBAY's take on this flat by Kate Spade (the much cheaper option was still available at Marshalls on Sunday, I should add).
I know they're bright, but they pair well with a lot of stuff in my closet, including other neon things. The result is chic, I promise. I wore 'em with jeans and this yellow Banana Republic blouse at a country spring picnic.
Anyone else score anything fabulous this weekend? Or do you want to rib me for "discovering" Marshalls just now? Go ahead. Really, I deserve it.
