Barbie feet out of control!
Check out this great Wall Street Journal article about towering heels (we also picked it up in today's tbt*). Shoe retailers are clamoring to take heels to higher and higher heights at the cost of our feet. Shoe Superman Christian Louboutin, whose decadent footwear is akin to chocolate-covered porn, is planning to introduce an 8-inch platform next fall.
I'm rocking 4-inch booties today, and I'm perfectly comfortable. I have some 5-or-so inch heels at home, but I think that may be my max without a sizable platform to help out.
I recently tried on a pair of gorgeous bone-colored round-toe stilettos at Aldo. They were about six inches, and I found myself shuffling around the store like a hip-replaced granny. They were on sale, and SO PRETTY, and I almost got them despite their total wackness. But the podiatrist in angel wings on my shoulder intervened, screaming something about "WHAT ARE YOU, A FREAKING IDIOT?" in my ear.
So everyone, what's your max heel height?

Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
