Beat the cold weather with DIY dry skin remedies

Whilst the fashionista in me is loving this cold spell for all its wardrobe possibilities -- three cheers for the beautiful scarves and coats I've spied this week!! -- my skin is crying for help. My face feels itchy, my hands are dry and my lips are one coat of lip balm away from being chapped.

Thank goodness for Google. Easy, do-it-at-home dry skin remedies abound. I'll be treating my digits to some TLC tonight, and I figured I'd pass along the tips I found to any fellow sufferers.

Olive oil: It's not just for cooking, folks. Dab some oil on your dry cuticles, hands and elbows for serious skin soothing.

Lotion: Duh. But to get the most bang for your buck, rub on moisturizer right after showering to allow your softened skin to really soak it up.

Honey: Apparently, honey works wonders on cracked lips. And it's a lot tastier than ChapStick!

Yogurt: This sounds a little gross to me, but yogurt can be used as a skin cleanser that moisturizers as it cleans.

Diet: No, I don't mean the New Year's resolution variety. Drinking plenty of fluids and eating foods with essential fatty acids help cure our skin from the inside.

This is by no means a comprehensive list. Please, dear readers, share your dry skin tips with the masses!
