Black Friday for all you thrifters
Happy day-after-Thanksgiving, y'all!
If you're not already out doing some damage at the malls, don't worry. As you all know, Black Friday has morphed into a prolonged weekend.
You're not too late!
Any good shopper knows that some of the best deals come to those who wait -- or, er, sleep in. And we also know that much of the coolest stuff in our closets didn't come from a big-box store. So, without further ado, here are some Black
Friday
Weekend sales at our favorite thrift stores around Tampa Bay. If you know of any others, leave them in the comments.
Sunshine Thrift (aka Deal Diva heaven) is having a 50 percent off all clothing sale from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. That goes for both its St. Pete AND Tampa locations.
Get 10 percent off EVERYTHING at Misred Outfitters in downtown St. Pete from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. The store also says it'll be having BOGO sales, and raffles for gift certificates and other prizes.
Don't need to camp out at Revolve Clothing Exchange. The store (which has both St. Pete and Tampa locations) is offering 25 percent off today and Saturday.
Off the Rack, a charming thrift store in Largo, is having one of its biggest sales of the year: 25 percent off everything today and Saturday. Plus, some items are 75 percent off. The store is open until 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow. We als hear there's a drawing for a $25 gift certificate.
Over at the quirky, fun, vintage ARTpool Gallery in St. Pete, you can get 20 percent off clothing through Sunday and "secret sales" today. Plus the shop, which recently added a cafe, is hosting the "Black Out Crafty Fest" featuring local indie vendors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Katie Sanders foolishly spurned pretty dresses and shoes as a child, tossing new clothes over her shoulder at birthday parties with a totally rude "no, thank you." Her drab days of monocolor outfits are over now, and she certainly knows better than to turn down free stuff. Her wardrobe mixes classic with quirk. Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry. She can be reached at (813) 226-3400 or
From camo pants and construction boots to sundresses, sweaters and sling backs, Keyonna Summers knows how to make all of it rock -- at rock bottom prices. A Detroit native, Keyonna delves into her urban roots to find fashion pairings that give a nod to street fashion while maintaining the class of the modern, professional woman. She believes in searching for affordable clothes that look expensive and can easily be dressed up or down. You won't find plaid shirts or fleece jackets in her closet; the only hiking Keyonna does is to the bargain basement. She can be reached at (727) 445-4153 or
