Bone up on spring fashions to help great causes
First up, the Fashion Funds the Cure event. Next Tuesday, March 10, TV host Carson Kressley (of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fame) will emcee a runway fashion show in the name of pediatric cancer research. The show starts at 7 p.m. at the Saks Fifth Avenue at WestShore Plaza in Tampa. Tickets are $100.
This isn't your typical show. In additional to professional models, it will feature girls who are either battling cancer or have survived it. Wow. Plus, Saks will donate 10 percent of in-store sales that evening (up to $15,000) to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Call (813) 269-0955 or go to this Web site to register.
On Wednesday, March 11, the Neiman Marcus at International Plaza will present "Dressing to the Nines." From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., get lunch and a show inside the store's designer department. The cost is $25, and proceeds benefit the MacDonald Training Center, which helps people with disabilities.
Call (813) 870-1300 or visit this Web site for tickets and more info.
I'm hoping to go to both events, so maybe I'll see you there!
