Buy International Plaza gift cards, get free museum tickets
Need an excuse to check out the Dali Museum or Ringling Museum of Art? And wonder what those excursions have to do with fashion?
In keeping with its "Art in Fashion" theme for spring, International Plaza has a somewhat random yet potentially worthwhile promotion going on right now. The deal is this: If you buy five or more International Plaza gift cards in one day, you will receive two tickets to one of six area museums.
Choose from the Dali Museum; MOSI's "Da Vinci: The Genius" exhibit; Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg; Ringling Museum of Art; Tampa Bay History Center or the Tampa Museum of Art Cornelia Corbett Center.
IP gift card denominations start at $20 each. Let's say you buy $100 worth with money you were planning to spend anyways to update your spring/summer wardrobe. Then you get the museum tickets (up to $100 in value) essentially for free.
Now, if you weren't planning on shelling out that $100 in the first place, this isn't really a deal. It may, however, be a good excuse to add some fresh pieces to your closet in the name of art.
See the concierge for details. The promotion is expected to run through at least the end of May.

Katie Sanders foolishly spurned pretty dresses and shoes as a child, tossing new clothes over her shoulder at birthday parties with a totally rude "no, thank you." Her drab days of monocolor outfits are over now, and she certainly knows better than to turn down free stuff. Her wardrobe mixes classic with quirk. Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
