Calling all trashy fashionistas!

Could you dig through a Dumpster and come up with a brilliant outfit? Then you ingenuity could pay off. The City of Largo is seeking participants of all ages for its third annual Trashy Fashion Show.

Individuals and groups can compete for cash prizes and the coveted best-in-show title of Trashiest Designer. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best designs in various categories. The categories and prizes are as follows: Junior Designer (grades K-5; $50), Teen Designer (grades 6-8; $75), High-End Designer (grades 9-12; $100) and Adult Designer (ages 18 and up; $$150). Trashiest Designer (best in show) wins $200. The runners-up in each age category will receive a $50 gift card.

The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges -- including yours truly!

The dress was made of old playing cards, scraps of suede, and parts of an old computer. Middle: Lauren Stein models couture by high school designer Max Burns. The outfit is composed of used straws, cheese slice wrappers, tissue boxes and soda tabs. Bottom: Courtney Phillips dons the entry by the Florida Aquarium staff's Green Team. The fashion was made of palm fronds, biodegradable trash bags, soda tabs, used gallery maps and biodegradable packaging peanuts. The design was a runner up in the adult category.
