A crafty Christmas
Well folks, it's finally December. And you know what that means... 25 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not that I'm counting or anything.
It also means time is running out to check off your gift list. I was lucky enough to snag a few key items on Black Friday (yeah, I braved the madness), but I'm still at a loss when it comes to a couple family members, and my wallet is begging for a cool-down.
I was just about to consider re-gifting a cheap bottle of champagne collecting dust in my kitchen when I came across this NPR story about unemployed people reviving the homemade gift. A great idea for anyone, job or not.
It reminded me of The Year of the Decoupage -- when I was a broke college student surviving on PB&Js and everyone I knew got their very own collaged-and-shellacked picture frame. As lovely and shiny as they were, I never expected the reaction from the recipients. What was cheap and fun for me turned out to be one of my most successful gift-giving years yet. (Right, Mom and Dad?!?)
This year perhaps I'll try my hand at wreath-wielding or revive my once passionate need for needlepoint. Who's got more crafty ideas?
