Deal Divas take on Neiman Marcus, eat cupcakes
Your very own Deal Divas (minus Nicole, who had baby duty), spent last night hobnobbing with the pretty people at International Plaza's Neiman Marcus for Fashion's Night Out. The event happened in cities around the world as a way to get people back into stores and having fun shopping, something we're all about. Ace tbt* photographer Luis Santana was on hand to document the madcappery.
Neiman's closed its doors for the evening to a limited bunch of folks. Models stood high on platforms. Caterers passed around champagne, wine and pineapple and bubblegum martinis. There was a cigar roller, jazz band and indoor putting range. THERE WERE CUPCAKES. I REPEAT, CUPCAKES. (Capitalized for honor henceforth.)
Our readers know Neiman Marcus is a wee million miles outside the Deal Diva price range. But still, we look to the tippy top for trends we can mimic in our own way. Nicole and Colleen recently told you how.
I gotta say, there was something completely exhilarating about walking around with CUPCAKES, getting close to things I only dream about. Chanel heels with embedded pearls. Marc Jacobs silk blouses. Alice Roi cocktail dresses. Christian Louboutins with the label spelled correctly. Or this fantastic Judith Leiber Austrian crystal CUPCAKE purse that costs a mere $4,295. I die.
In the end, though, the Deal Divas found ourselves gathered around a high top table, cracking up and discussing our worst fashion sins. Colleen's Target bangle bracelet that turned her arm totally pink in the rain. The elementary school outfit that Letitia was so proud of because it appeared on an episode of My Two Dads. Dalia's "Prada" bag that she may-have-sort-of-kind-of Velcroed together. My pink "Kate Spade" purse from a thrift store that I only realized was fake when the label started SLIDING OFF IN THE HEAT.
You know what they say. You can take a girl out of the clearance section...
