Deal Divas' Tampa Bay Fashion Week recap

26

September

We made it through Tampa Bay Fashion Week! Deal Divas Emily, Kameel and I took in the show Friday night at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor. I spent most of the night stalking neat-looking people to chat them up and take their pictures before we were ushered into our front row (!!) seats. After the show, the three of us convened for some late-night tapas, over which we swore to swear off eating (between bites), a result of seeing all the leggy models. That lasted all of negative four seconds until more delicious heads prevailed.

Get comfy. Here are about a million pictures!

We auctioned off the designer T-shirt creations from our gallery in the boutique area for charity. It was a silent auction, as this was a classy event, so no one was screaming or tweaking their earlobes. Here's our marketing gal Sarah Small holding down the table.

See? Silent auction sheets, plus the story from Friday's tbt* and last Sunday's Floridian section of the Times. Kim Hendrix's design was making bank early on. I have to check in and see where the numbers ended up.

One of the gorgeous designers, milliner Dolly Donshey. You should recognize her from our photo shoot. Her WAIST.

Here's Leslie Joy Ickowitz, publisher of Vertical Tampa Bay, wearing a vintage coat from LaFrance in Ybor. We sat next to each other during the show.

img_0592.jpg

Jenna Angradi wore J Brand Jeans and a top she picked up at a Pennsylvania boutique, by the brand t-bags (HAHA. We can be irreverent about that here, because it's the Internet). Her shoes are Loeffler Randall and her bag is Michael Kors. Maggie Philbin is sporting a French Connection dress and Burberry bag. Both ladies work in PR at Brock Communications in Tampa. This one is a little blurry, sorry!

img_0595.jpg

Good Lord, would you look at these shoes from Ivanka Ska? The woman is a phenom. Totally incredible. I need a pair of these to finally achieve my lifelong goal of being taller than... well, anyone.

A close-up:

We met Sara Stonecipher, owner of MISRED Outfitters in the revitalized 600 block of downtown St. Petersburg. We've been sorely neglectful in getting over there, so a couple of us Divas are going to pop by in the weeks to come and do a boutique spotlight. Stay tuned. Sara mixed Forever 21 with vintage. Her friend Dree Harper, a stylist from St. Petersburg who blogs at Create that Style, wore a vintage Flora Kung dress with vintage Salvatore Ferragamo pink slingbacks. Divine.

img_0600.jpg

I had to track down Sylvia Bryant of Tampa who boldly wore this shrunken top hat with Forever 21, Francesca's and Uno de 50.

img_0601.jpg

Oh, here's lil' ol' me. The top is Nicole Miller, the leggings were dug out of the sock drawer and the colorblock superhero boots are Jessica Simpson. My mom got me those for Christmas last year. Moms are the best.

img_0603.jpg

Speaking of Mom, check out my arm party. I mixed a Betsey Johnson chain bracelet with Mom's actual high school charm bracelet from 1966. I added a bangle that my best friend left at my house once, because that is how the game is played. The leopard nails? We'll get into that later. There is a post coming.

tbt* marketing guru Lynette Gryniak posed with Sarah, whose 1970s-inspired dress came from the new Drop boutique on Fourth Street in St. Petersburg. I think they're the cutest, but I'm biased.

img_0605.jpg

Love the color here. Keitha Taylor and Megan Sturm both work for Barbizon in Tampa. Keitha, on the right, had on a dress from Urban Outfitters and shoes by BCBG. Megan's shoes were from Victoria's Secret, and I almost ripped them off her feet. Not really. Sort of. Her top is Charlotte Russe.

We found our blog buds from BonBon Rose Girls! Remember our outfit swap? Kristin Swenson, left, and her beauty editor Annelis Diaz swear they didn't mean to match. It just sort of happened. Kristin's dress is Ann Taylor and her shoes are Jessica Simpson. Her bracelets came from BaubleBar. Annelis wore a Ya Los Angeles dress and Nine West leopard pumps with a Kate Spade bangle she bought at Fashion's Night Out.

Oh, hai! It's Deal Diva Kameel at her first officially sanctioned (or whatever) Deal Diva event. She cleaned out the sale rack at Body Central in the flashest of flashes. Her dress was $10! She is committed to being a Deal Diva at all costs. Um, preferably low ones.

img_0612.jpg

I was more than a little confused by the beauty queen contingent at Fashion Week, so I ran down these girls to ask what was up. They're from USA Petite Teen Miss. "Uh," I said. "What's that?" It's a contest for teens 5-foot-5 and under, they said. A-HA! FINALLY! Something totally perfect for me! I mean... about 15 years ago. Right, so, I'm going to go cry into my Metamucil while you meet Brie Edmister, 16, of Wesley Chapel (right), and Sarah Sawyer, 17, of New Port Richey. I guess Fashion Week is just part of the shorty lifestyle (hah, see what I did there? Oy.).

img_0614.jpg

We ran into former Deal Divas a plenty, including Nicole Hutcheson, who taught Emily how to pose. Nicole is always the master of such things. Oh, how I wish I had turned on the flash.

img_0621.jpg

We also saw former Deal Diva Dalia Colon with her hubs, Braulio. They wanted to pose against an Audi too. We're all kindred spirits, as you can see. Dalia was sporting an Express top, White House Black Market pants and shoes from Nine West. Braulio, who took off his jacket to investigate, wore a suit from Joseph Abboud and the ever-popular "work shirt."

Finally in our seats! We're so excited!

img_0616.jpg

Check out the runway.

img_0627.jpg

I'm going to let the designers take it from here. Yes, all photos will be from the same angle, because I was sitting, you know, at the same angle the whole time. Like I always say, I AM GOODER AT WRITING. Apologies to the designers toward the end of the show. My camera battery was gasping for life, so I had to take shots much more sparingly.

Thanks to the White Book Agency for organizing a great event, as they do every year, and for helping us coordinate our Fashion Week coverage yet again. Until next time...
