Deal me out: Farewell to the Divas!
Recently I was waxing poetic about how all good things must come to an end. Well, now it's my turn. You all have been indulging my blog posts for more than a year now, first as a fill-in during Deal Diva Nicole's maternity leave and then as a full-fledged Diva with my very own cartoon mini-me at the top of this page. (I'm supposed to be the one on the far left.)
Last Tuesday was my last day as a Times reporter and Deal Diva. The very next day, I started as a reporter for WUSF. But before I part ways with this blog, I want to leave you with some nuggets of Diva know-how:
1. Fashion Week Tampa Bay is Sept. 22 to 25 this year. Be there.
2. Tampa's Project Runway fave, Ben Chmura, has officially left the 813. As he warned the Deal Divas back in January, Chmura has moved to New York to pursue his big-city fashion dreams. So the next time you're in the Big Apple, look him up.
4. Ask for what you want. If can't find the color or size of the item you like, ask a store clerk if there's a secret stash in the back. If you notice something wrong with a garment, try to get the price reduced. Last weekend I walked out of Kohl's with a $40 blouse for $6 because, not only was it already on clearance, and not only did I have a coupon from my newspaper, but the shirt had belt loops. So I said to the clerk, "This top is missing a belt. Can you take $2 off?" She agreed to take off $0.60, which worked for me, 'cause I already had a belt to match at home. Which brings me to one final word of wisdom. Actually, it's two words.
5. Kohl's coupons.
