Dear Santa, bring me an outlet store ...
So, Deal Diva Colleen and I were talking last week and it occurred to us that some of our favorite -- but more pricey -- stores don''t have outlets.
Anthropologie came to mind.
This is a store that, no matter which town I'm in, I see way more rack browsers than buyers. Yes, their stuff is fabulous, but budget friendly ... not so much. Which is exactly why they need an outlet!
Some of the other Divas had their own outlet wish list: Letitia wants Tiffany's. Stephanie's jonesing for a Betsey Johnson.
If there was a Santa Patron of outlet stores, this is where I'd tell him that the Deal Divas have been good this year. We've blogged a lot and bought mostly clearance items and haven't abused ellipses or the free samples at Costco.
But I'd also check out Outletbound.com. FYI, this site is one handy dandy Web guide to outlet shopping across the U.S.
From what I can tell, Stephanie must have a fairy reindeer or something because according to outletbound.com there's a Betsey Johnson outlet in Orlando and San Marcos, Texas.
As for the rest of us, it seems our favorite stores just haven't come aboard the crazy cruise ship we call the outlet mall.
Planning a trip any time soon? Be sure to check the site to see which good outlet shops are near your destination.

Katie Sanders foolishly spurned pretty dresses and shoes as a child, tossing new clothes over her shoulder at birthday parties with a totally rude "no, thank you." Her drab days of monocolor outfits are over now, and she certainly knows better than to turn down free stuff. Her wardrobe mixes classic with quirk. Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry.
