"Engaged for the Cure" bridal show to raise money for cancer
Three local ladies -- Jennifer Bishop, Tuesday Sprague and Lisa Marie Swenson -- love weddings, too. They are also dedicated to raising money for cancer research and education. This Sunday, with the help of their "Laughter Heals" Relay for Life team, they will pair their passions for a new event that Tampa Bay area brides-to-be should definitely consider checking out.
It's called the "Engaged for the Cure" bridal show, and it's being held at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront at 333 1st St. S. At least 40 wedding vendors will show off their wares, with everything from photographers to caterers to florists to venues. Attendees will be showered with gift bags, vacation drawings, cake and champagne.
Guys, no need to run screaming if your fiancee tries to drag you along. The event will include a "Man Cave," where you can check out the game scores on a flat-screen TV and find refuge from those pressing discussions of band vs. deejay and tux vs. suit.
The event runs from noon to 5 p.m., with a full bridal party fashion show scheduled during the last hour. Pay $7 at the door, or pre-register online for $5. Here's the coolest part: 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
Makes wedding planning sound a whole lot less frivolous, no?
