Fake fight: Coach sues Target

Targetlawsuit Some see imitation as a sincere form flattery. Coach, the luxe handbag giant, does not.

Coach is suing Target, our favorite fashion-for-the-masses outlet. Coach accuses Target of selling handbags that look too much like its own designs.

The bags in question resemble Coach's Ergo line, which is marketed as ergonomically correct, as well as its Signature patchwork bags.

Now I like cheapo fashion as much as the next girl, but this case seems pretty clear-cut to me.

Coach isn't crazy expensive -- if you shop smart. It's worth paying a little more for quality. And Target bags, which aren't that cheap to begin with, always feel too much like the pleather couch at a college frat house.

Besides, both the Ergo and Patchwork designs are pretty ugly. Why fight over fug?

What's your two cents?
