Flirty, cheap kicks: Thakoon meets Target

Thakoontarget_4Fifth Avenue lust is so 2008. Scoring designer looks at Target ... hello 2009!

Bless Target for kicking off the new year with its latest installment of limited edition, affordable clothing by cutting-edge designers. Thakoon Panichgul chases away the economic hangover that was last year.

Thai-born, Omaha-raised Thakoon has stamped his signature all over flirty florals on the spring 2009 runway. This summer, he scored bragging rights to Michelle Obama's red flowered frock at the Democratic National Convention -- an eye-catching print with a classic cut and just-so daring flash of bare back.

Targetskirt_3Now every girl can score a piece. The Thakoon collection hit Target stores right after Christmas, winning compliments for fun and versatility. The pleated strip dress, left, is pitch perfect for spring. Ditto for the tie-front tropical skirt, right.

Whether you take your Thakoon wild on bikinis, or subdued on a cardigan, it's hard to resist prices that range from $16.99 to $44.99.

Consider stopping by your local Target before ordering online. (Some pieces already sold out on the website.) The sizes were odd. I normally wear a 6/8, but could pull off a size 3 in the skirts!
