Fug or Fab?: sandal bootie.
Just when you thought it was safe to take your pedicurist off speed dial for the Fall/Winter, those zany fashionistas are at it again!
I've seen this look here and there since the Spring and didn't know quite what to make of it. But recently I've seen some really cute styles in stores and I'm warming up to the idea.
It also didn't hurt that one of my style icons -- Sanaa Lathan -- was recently sported wearing a pair at the Catherine Malandrino L.A. store opening. Pictured on the left, Lathan is wearing a pair of Maison Martin Margiela boots, priced around $700.)
I suppose if one were to wear these little booties, Sanaa's look would be the best bet -- it takes a considerable amount of lady-likeness to make these booties not look so rock and roll. Although I can totally see these little boots with the leggings-and- chunky sweater look too.
As Floridians we have a special advantage when it comes to this style of shoe, since it won't really get cold for another month or so.
So with that in mind here are a few cheaper alternatives to Miss Sanaa's fancy foot wear just in case you are inclined to give the look a whirl.
Baker's open-toe bootie is sexy with the stiletto yet lady-like with the ruffles, and somewhat attainable priced at $79.95.
This Steve Madden look is considerably more hardcore and edgy. And a little more pricey at $199.95. Me likes.
Wanna go completely different? Go for a pair of open-toe booties in color: How about purple? Another Steve Madden creation, this pair's on sale for $109.95.
