Get free personal styling this weekend at Westfield Brandon
We all need a little help from time to time, don't we? How many times have you walked out of your house in last night's PJ bottoms, wondering if one of your "friends" is lurking around the corner with a What Not To Wear cameraman? If that sounds like you, check out this cool event at Westfield Brandon Friday and Saturday.
It's the National Westfield Style Tour, and it's making it's first stop here in our backyard. We're a little bummed, though, because it appears our mall's event is one of the few that won't be graced by the all holy Stacy London (left) from What Not To Wear. Sadness.
Anyway, it's still cool. Produced by IMG (the folks who produce of New York’s highfalutin Fashion Week), the Westfield Style Tour is a two-day FREE fashion bonanza. FREE. Did you hear? FREE. Here's how it goes:
When you get to the mall, you hang out in a special lounge and read Westfield's WStyle magazine, which details fall trends and offers tips from Stacy London. Then, you get a free fashion consultation with a professional wardrobe stylist. They'll pull stuff from the mall stores to suggest -- Bebe, White House/Black Market, Metropark, G by Guess, Forever 21, Express and Buckle.
After that, you get a free makeup consultation at the Beauty Bar. There will be samples (WE LOVE SAMPLES) and demonstrations from Bare Escentuals, The Body Shop, MAC, Clinique and Chanel. You can also enter to win a trip to the 2011 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City or a $2,500 Westfield shopping spree.
I can think of worse ways to spend the weekend. But be warned -- the mall is a business that wants you to BUY, obviously. Although it's free, we suggest packing a little spending cash if you got it. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Katie Sanders foolishly spurned pretty dresses and shoes as a child, tossing new clothes over her shoulder at birthday parties with a totally rude "no, thank you." Her drab days of monocolor outfits are over now, and she certainly knows better than to turn down free stuff. Her wardrobe mixes classic with quirk. Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry. She can be reached at (813) 226-3400 or
From camo pants and construction boots to sundresses, sweaters and sling backs, Keyonna Summers knows how to make all of it rock -- at rock bottom prices. A Detroit native, Keyonna delves into her urban roots to find fashion pairings that give a nod to street fashion while maintaining the class of the modern, professional woman. She believes in searching for affordable clothes that look expensive and can easily be dressed up or down. You won't find plaid shirts or fleece jackets in her closet; the only hiking Keyonna does is to the bargain basement. She can be reached at (727) 445-4153 or
