Go Red in style...
I like it when good causes come up with a catchy campaign. And the American Heart Association's Go Red for wom
en campaign is one of those that speaks to the fashion head in all of us.
On Friday Feb. 5 (tomorrow!), the AHA encourages everyone to wear red -- whether it's a dress, a blouse or a head band -- to promote awareness about heart disease in women. I received my cute little "red dress" pen the other day and will be sporting it proudly.
The whole thing begged the question of just what is the best way to wear a red dress. Even though I'm not a huge fan of red dresses, I can't argue with its versatility. Here's how each of the Divas would style up the dress to the left.
Red dresses are a little jolting to me, so I'd try to make it a little earthy with a tan sandal and a simple pair of big gold hoop earrings.
(Laguna Sandal, $89 at Dilliards.)
Here's what the other Divas had to say....
Letitia, the consummate lady, says a red dress does not whisper, it screams. So, for a night at the opera she'd pair it with classic pearls and a pair of satin black pumps.
(White shell pearls, $39.99 at Target.)
Stephanie would go out on a limb and mix colors. "Purple looks great with red as does blue," she said.
(Jessica Simpson pump, on sale for $58.99 at Macy's.)
#1 rule: "Don't wear a red dress with red shoes," Colleen said. She'd sport the red dress with a chunky black necklace and a fun clutch.
(black necklace
$2.99 at NY&Co.)
Dalia would order up a serving up leopard print --stat! That sounds kind of gross, but this trench coat she suggested is cute!

Katie Sanders foolishly spurned pretty dresses and shoes as a child, tossing new clothes over her shoulder at birthday parties with a totally rude "no, thank you." Her drab days of monocolor outfits are over now, and she certainly knows better than to turn down free stuff. Her wardrobe mixes classic with quirk. Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry.
