Going coo coo for coral

Banana Republic's style experts say they have a crush on coral, and I couldn't be happier.

I love coral clothing. Love, love, love it.

The hue looks great on so many skin types, and it screams spring and summer to me. Maybe if we all wear it, Mother Nature will take a hint and bring us some lasting warm weather. At the very least, we'll look a little less sun-deprived with this vibrant color perking up our complexions.

The folks at Banana Republic wisely suggest avoiding an overload of bold. If you wear coral from head-to-toe, they say, keep the rest of your palette neutral to ground the look.

Here are some takes on coral that have me itching for spring:

Coral halter
Silk twist halter dress, $110 at Banana Republic. Notice how the nude shoes keep the eye focused on the dress.

Basket plaid scarf

This basket plaid scarf, $34.50 at the Loft, would look lovely against a backdrop of khakis and whites. And I'm totally drooling over this long coral stone necklace.

Trina turk

I can't afford this Trina Turk "Bellflower" cardigan, available for $248 at Nordstrom, but I adore this outfit and plan to seek out a less expensive version. Coral + Navy + Gold = Holy Spring Fever!
