Goodwill wedding dress run this weekend!
Get ready for the annual running of the brides! On Saturday, brides, fiances and M.O.B.'s will take over the Goodwill Superstore in Oldsmar, where the hunt is on for designer wedding gowns with thrift store price tags.
Prices begin at $90 for gowns that still have their original price tags of up to $4,650.
For the uninitiated, this isn't an event to stroll into late. While doors open at 6 a.m. Saturday, the lines will form outside long before the sun rises. Brides are given numbers as they arrive to determine the order they will be admitted into the dressing area.
The Oldsmar store (3929 Tampa Rd.) will have 165 dresses to sell, along with bridesmaid dresses and wedding accessories. If that doesn't sound festive enough, there will also be refreshments from Publix, prize drawings and music.
If you don't find your dream dress, or your alarm malfunctions, you can get another crack at a bargain wedding gown if you're willing to drive. A similar event, featuring another 165 dresses, is Sat., June 11, at the Goodwill Superstore in Ocala (2830 S.W. 27th Avenue).
Not that brides need another reason to go, but here's one more perk: Proceeds will benefit Goodwill-Suncoast's programs to help people with developmental disabilities.
