Haircuts to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure's breast cancer efforts

Are your split ends getting scary? Feeling like fresh layers for fall? Here's an opportunity you won't want to miss.

On Sept. 13, Salon Jack is hosting its fifth annual Cut-a-Thon to raise money for the Florida Suncoast affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The organization works to raise awareness of breast cancer through community events, like the Race for the Cure, and also provides funds for research grants and educational programs.

salonjack.jpgSalon Jack decided to get in on the good will by offering $25 haircuts plus blow-drys all day. All the proceeds, including tips, go to the organization. Last year, the event brought in about $4,500, said salon owner Chad Malm (pictured at left).

"We love it for so many reasons," Malm said. "It's amazing the support we've gotten."

Malm said there will also be an auction for items like Lowry Park Zoo tickets and signed items from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Call (813) 831-8955 for an appointment or stop by the salon, 3215 S Macdill Ave., Suite I, Tampa, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The Salon Jack stylists and several local beauty school students are donating their time and will reserve 30 minutes per haircut, Malm said.

"Haircuts on that day will be just as good (as any other day) or even better because we have that focus," Malm said. "You'll get a great haircut if you come in."
