Half off all clothing at Sunshine Thrift this Thursday
I'm one of those forest-for-the-trees shoppers who gets easily overwhelmed in large clothing stores with huge inventory, and I lose patience before I can find that great top for 75 percent off among a sea of tops I just don't want. As a result, I often overspend on boutique-style shops where the selections are limited but easy to navigate. Or I'll buy the outfit in the window, one of the surest ways to pay full-price for clothing.
So the first time I walked into Sunshine Thrift in St. Petersburg, my brain started to short-circuit at the sight of clothing racks that seemed to stretch on for days, my eyes pausing on a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt and a men's Nike basketball jacket. But then I looked closer. Sunshine Thrift is nice, you guys, and the clothes are so well-organized. Anthropologie dresses, Calvin Klein jeans, unique hippie skirts. I can't vouch for the one in Tampa, but I can tell from looking at their website that these people have their act together, and there's some thought that goes into how they organize their donations. That's not easy, given their claim of stocking 3,000 items daily.
But thrift stores need to purge just like any other retailer. That's good news for us El Cheapo Divas, and just in time for our seasonal shopping of cool weather clothes!
This Thursday, Nov. 10, the Tampa and St. Petersburg Sunshine Thrift stores are offering 50 percent off ALL OF THEIR CLOTHING. With the average piece of clothing costing about $3 before the discount, you could practically re-stock your entire closet for $30. With some patience and focus, that is.
