Hello from your newest Deal Diva!
Many of you astute readers have probably noticed a new face peeking out at you from the lineup at the top of the blog. That's me, Marissa Lang, newest Deal Diva on the block.
I come from a long line of frugal women. My grandmother, born and raised in South America, can haggle better than anyone I've ever known. This skill has been passed down to my mother, who has wrangled near unthinkable deals out of merchants in New York City's Chinatown with her signature, "What do I look like, a tourist?" And then, there's me. I'm what you might call a competitive shopper. Example: You got those shoes for $20? Well, I bought these knock-offs for $8, after I wrestled them out of the hands of a merchant asking $12 at the flea market -- AND he threw in a free pair of sunglasses. So, ha!
Relatively new to the Tampa Bay area, I'm still exploring (and very open to suggestions). I love digging through heaps at second-hand shops, yard sales and antique treasure troves that look more like a cluttered attic than a store. I have an aversion to uncomfortable shoes, neutral shades and buying furniture, and a big weakness for bright colors, statement pieces and funky accessories with an urban flare.
Hopefully my unique -- and sometimes loud -- style will inspire and inform. Can't wait to share tips, deals and steals with all of you! Feel free to send over any suggestions, comments or questions.
