Here's the Deal, Tampa Bay. A new feature to help you save!

heresdeal.jpgThe world is full of deal fever these days!

Our mothership, the St. Petersburg Times, will launch a new weekly feature starting Monday called Here's the Deal. Every Monday on the front of the Metro section and online, a Times staffer will bring you tips on how to save your pennies, be it medical costs, groceries, cable bills, presents for your kids or big things like buying houses and cars. We'll even tell you how to talk your way out of fees and getting billed after bad restaurant service without being hated by everyone in your wake.

The stories will be a mix of first-person success tales and reported pieces, bright and colorful, things you can clip out of the paper. You know, get old school and tack it on your kid's mini fridge to remind him not to blow the last of his textbook money on a boogie board airbrushed with Corona bottles. That kind of thing.

The feature kicks off with yours truly, Deal Diva Stephanie, on Monday. I'll tell you how I saved big bucks on a brand new car by shopping online, a fierce negotiating tool that helped me avoid going cold into dealerships and getting made as the Smurf I am.

Follow Here's the Deal on Facebook and give us your own tips and story suggestions. And, as always, follow your fave Deal Divas on Facebook for all the shopaholic scrimping you can handle.
