Hey guys! Cheap ties!
Sometimes I feel bad for guys.
It's kind of hard for them to play with personal style, you know? Unless he's willing to take some serious risks (hats, scarves, vests, etc...) he's pretty limited. Shirt. Pants. Shoes. Solid. Striped. Plaid. Tan. Black. Brown. Yawn. Kill me now.
I'm a fan of ties. It's a quick way to change your look without going all Ed Hardy on our poor, innocent eyes. Problem is, nice ties can run from the $50 range on up. And cheap ones usually have, like, a tragic scene featuring Bugs Bunny parasailing down from the knot, Daffy Duck waiting curiously unawares near the point. Buzzkill.
Today, I was stoked to discover the Tie Bar, a website offering a whole load of silk ties for $15 a pop, $5.99 flat shipping. Tie Bar has been featured in GQ and other legit men's mags. They have good looking regular ties, skinny ties, bow ties, pocket squares, ascots and extra long ties for the tall folk (PLEASE, if you're tall, invest in a tie that doesn't hit you mid-chest. It should hit your belt buckle). Also, the site lets you match ties perfectly to your shirt or suit. It's sort of fun to click around, and I'm not even a dude.
Check it out. Good gift idea for the guy in your life, no?

Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
