Hip, hot and on a runway near you
Want to see models working fierce fashions to a hip-hop beat?
The traveling Ebony Fashion Fair hits the Tampa Bay area this weekend, with stops in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Thirteen models will show off the latest and greatest by top designers, including Christian Lacroix, Sarli, b. michael, Carolina Herrera, Ruben Singer and Jean-Louis Scherrer.
The show this Sunday at the Historic Tampa Theatre (711 N. Franklin St.) is being hosted by Derrick Brooks Charities, and proceeds will go toward a program that mentors girls ages 7 to 18. Very cool. Also cool: This event offers a show within the show, with an audience that dresses as glamorously as the gals and gents on stage.
Tickets are $35 for the Tampa show, which starts at 5 p.m. Get them at the Tampa Theatre, (813) 274-8286; Derrick Brooks Charities, (813) 877-8681; Tampa Bay Beauty Institute, (813) 514-9100; or Big Al’s Precious Hair & Barber Salon, (813) 630-9579.
Each attendee gets a subscription to Ebony or Jet magazine.
