H&M chooses Lana Del Rey to be face of fall line
Times colleague and The Juice blogger Joshua Gillin brings us the news:
H&M annouced Tuesday that Lana Del Rey will be the face of the Stockholm-based clothing chain's fall fashions, tweeting out this picture.
"The mood is very L.A. noir. It's inspired by our fall collection," creative director Donald Schneider told Women's Wear Daily.
The 26-year-old singer, a.k.a. Lizzy Grant, already has a $1,350 Mulberry bag named after her. This is her first modeling gig, and a second H&M campaign is planned for winter.
Del Rey also recorded a cover of Tony Bennett's "Blue Velvet" for a short film to go with the fall H&M campaign.
Here, she's wearing a pale pink angora blend sweater with what do not appear to be pants. Hm.
An opportunity likes this is one way to beat the "Summertime Sadness" she sings about on her album Born to Die (anyone else love it? Anyone?).
