Impractical platform shoes we'll never wear (but wish we could)

Between the Tampa Bay Fashion Week runway show and the Tampa Museum of Art CITY fashion show these past coufull.jpegple weeks, we've seen our fill of precariously high and probably dangerous platform shoes, some which nearly scared us to death. At Fashion Week, one model even tiptoed out on real ballet toe shoes, a pretty and flamboyant touch that was fun to watch, but not something any of us could ever pull off. Well, maybe Deal Diva Kim could.

Here are some of the more extreme platforms we've seen, not just on runways, but in actual retail stores where you're expected to buy goods and wear them on your person, not just dream about them in some faraway fashion fantasyland. May we introduce to you:

platform1.jpgThe Jeffrey Campbell Zip-2 Wedge Bootie! Looks kind of like bug larvae. $189.96 at Nordstrom.

platform2.jpgGuiseppe Zanotti studded peep-toes. Even more terrifying than the height: the $1,450 price tag! At Zappos.

platform3.jpgAlexander McQueen Jeweled Finned-Wedge Pump, $1,645 at Neiman Marcus. Great with jeans!

platform4.jpgJeffrey Campbell "Darian" Sandal, $164.95 at Nordstrom. Great for gardening!

platform5.jpegJessica Simpson Beckery Pumps. A relatively reasonable $98 at Macy's.

platform6.jpegEnzo Angiolini Slingback Pumps, on sale at Macy's for $82.50. Great for camping!
