Isabel Toledo for Payless
Add another designer made famous by First Lady Michelle Obama to Payless' growing roster of affordable footwear by must-own names.
The Isabel Toledo for Payless line launched with advertisements in Vogue. But do the shoes live up to the billing? The first pieces, now online, offer an eclectic mix of dressy and casual. Only the fashion-forward could covet the Belted Poodle Boot (seeing is believing). Toledo's classy Toreador pump is so clearly a present to uptown girls, it's even tied with a bow.
But nothing in Toledo's line tempts me to buy like the shoes by Payless' other high-profile designer, Lela Rose. I've spent two years avoiding the shoe-booty trend, but her suede Chop-Out Shootie may change my mind. And the first-cousin flats are everything a girl needs for Florida fall.
