Kurt Cobain Flipper shirt available... at Forever 21?
Hey, 1990s rock fans. Where are you? I know we have some lurking here. Remember when Kurt Cobain wore a handmade Flipper shirt on Saturday Night Live in 1992, and in the booklet for In Utero, and pretty much all over the place? He made it with a Magic Marker.
It became available recently. AT FOREVER 21.
Here is a clean-cut fraternity boy just out of prep school modeling the item:
I'm not one of these people who thinks things like Kurt Cobain shirts are religious artifacts that should not be trifled with or else fear the wrath of Courtney Love and God. But... this is dumb. Aside from the fact that the shirt is iconic for NOT being mass-produced, it doesn't really match the tone of the Forever 21 clientele (us included), who are presumably heading in for a good deal on a pair of leggings and a sparkly tunic, not a screen-printed garment that moonlights as a romantic cultural symbol of early demise at the feet of a consumptive and tortured society.
You know, just saying.
Then again, maybe I'm wrong. When you click the link, the Forever 21 website says the item is sold out.
