Lashes Betty Boop would love
Or the stabs you've taken at trying to wear fake eyelashes for that red-carpet movie star look, only to have one of your glued-on beauties fall off onto your salad plate.
Well. The company that makes Botox anti-wrinkle injections thinks it has found a way "to improve the length, thickness and darkness of natural eyelashes," according to one of its big shots. Apparently, people who were using a drug to treat eye conditions stemming from glaucoma had the very cool side effect of stimulated eyelash growth.
The company wants to market that drug, called Lumigan, under the brand name Latisse for use as a prescription cosmetic treatment that would be applied once a day at the base of the eyelashes. The company already got the thumbs-up this month from a Food and Drug Administration advisory committee, and now it's looking for the green light from the FDA itself. Which, of course, would be much better than having to get glaucoma in order to get longer lashes.
