Lilly Pulitzer paints a Jeep
The Lilly Pulitzer line -- sherbert-toned clothing often associated with women who get their hair done to go shopping in Palm Beach -- is celebrating its 50th anniversary in quite a, um, creative way.
Saying classic black cars are sooo last year, the company is giving VIPs at Fashion Week a spin in its limited edition Lilly Pulitzer Jeep Wrangler, driven by Lilly-clad chauffeurs. This ride is called "petal to the metal," which aptly describes the pink, green and yellow hibiscus flowers painted ALL OVER it. Talk about a counter-intuitive pairing. Sure, Lilly and Jeep are both classic American brands. But one evokes the Rockies and ruggedness, the other privilege and pool sides. I'd love to see a guy drive that thing. In New York.
However, if this floats your sailboat, you don't have to be in the Big Apple this week to take part. The flower power Jeep can be ordered by calling (610) 878-7757.
If you don't have that kind of cash (Lilly shift dresses are expensive, so chances are the Jeep ain't cheap), you can still celebrate all that is bright and colorful with a Steinway grand piano, Monopoly game or the special edition Florida's Natural Ruby Red juice containers being unveiled this spring.
