Luxury labels for less
I started working in the newspaper's Clearwater bureau almost a year ago, and I've been surprised at the number of cute little stores in the area. North Pinellas County may lack the big-city glamour of Tampa or the funkiness of St. Petersburg, but there is a reason for fashionistas to venure north of Ulmerton Road.
Case in point: CopyCats Boutique, a haven for label addicts looking to score high-end looks at bargain basement prices. The shop is loaded with, ahem, "designer inspired" jewelry, sunglasses and handbags. The "Tiffany" jewelry looks like the real thing and is priced between $24 and $150. There's a black handbag with the trademark Chanel interlocking C's for $69.99, and "Dior" sunglasses for $50.
Even for those who don't give a hoot about a designer label, it's a great place to browse. The jewelry is really pretty, regardless of its pedigree. And there's cool soaps and candles, which would make great gifts.
The store also carries the wooden Eiffel Tower purse Sarah Jessica Parker carried in the Sex and the City movie. It's the real thing and the price reflects it: $419.
