Mark your calender: Rebecca Minkoff trunk show in Tampa
You know you've made it as a designer when Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff and Lauren Conrad are all sporting your handbags, right?
Okay, well, maybe those gals don't meet everyone's standards of what's hip, but they do have a significant following. And, for Rebecca Minkoff, the fact that they and lots of models and actresses have taken a liking to her handbags is a good thing. Scratch that. A great thing.
Lindsay, Hilary and Lauren "have crazy boosted my sales," Minkoff said during a recent call from her New York City office. Having model Agyness Deyn photographed with a Rebecca Minkoff bag hasn't exactly hurt the designer's street cred either.
You, too, can get bags designed by the Gibbs High School graduate at her upcoming trunk show in Tampa. Minkoff will be chatting things up at the Zoey Bloom accessories boutique (1710 Dale Mabry Highway) on May 2 from noon to 6 p.m. All purchases come with a gift.
Rocker chicks should take particular note. Minkoff's Spring 2009 collection is themed "Almost Famous," inspired by the idea of going out onto the open road with your boyfriend's band. The bags have names like Stud Devote and Hookup Tote. Think lots of gold studs and bold colors, and prepare to shell out lots of cash.

Her drab days of monocolor outfits are over now, and she certainly knows better than to turn down free stuff. Her wardrobe mixes classic with quirk. Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry.
