Message to ESPN'S Hannah Storm: You're hot, but lose the red boots
I had to chuckle when I heard that ESPN suspended Tony Kornheiser from his TV show for two weeks for saying some not-so-nice things on his radio show about a recent outfit worn by fellow ESPNer Hannah Storm.
To be clear, I'm not laughing with Kornheiser. His words about Storm's "horrifying, horrifying outfit" were ugly and went too far. No one should talk like that about a colleague. Besides, Storm is one hot 47-year-old and good for her for wanting to be a bit untraditional with her on-air wardrobe.
But the ensemble Kornheiser mocked appears to be the same one I had in mind several weeks ago when I gave my two cents here for how not to wear a red dress. "Don't wear a red dress with red shoes," I said then. What I didn't share was the searing mental image I still had after spotting Storm on SportsCenter earlier this year wearing red go-go boots with a red top and short plaid skirt. At the time, I actually yelled at the TV. It was all just too much for a Sunday morning, or any other morning on any other day.
Though ESPN bosses didn't appreciate Kornheiser's diatribe, word has it that some of them have told Storm to give the boots the boot. Good call. But don't fret, Hannah. They'll make a killer addition to a superhero costume this Halloween.
