Michelle Obama polka dot H&M dress has everyone going dotty
Folks are saying polka dots are "back" ever since first lady Michelle Obama wore this dress on the Today show last week. It's from H&M, and it costs $35, which, HELLO, we Deal Divas love. Her kicky yellow heels are great, too. Orange would have been too matchy-matchy with the belt. This artful color pairing takes it to a sophisticated level.

But here's a question. Did polka dots every really leave? People like to jump on comebacks when they're actually classics that never go out of style, just ebb and flow a little with the seasons. Leopard would be one. Stripes are another. And polka dots would be another.
Whatever. This dress is super cute, and so are polka dots. They have a youthful air, but they're not too hard for a grown woman with a 401K and a career to pull off successfully. Try pairing your dots with bright pops of colors and solid accessories that won't compete for the attention of admiring eyeballs. Here are a couple ideas if you want to channel Michelle Obama and can't find an H&M near you (coughTAMPABAYcough).

byCORPUS polka dot dress, $19.99 from Urban Outfitters. Can totally see wearing this to a summer barbecue or an outdoor wedding. Or to lounge around your topiary garden with a mimosa and the company of a handsome tree trimmer. Because that's what we all do all the time, right?

Geez, this retro mocha crop top is adorable. And the brown and black are an unexpected color combo that makes it less costumey. I'd probably layer this with a tank underneath, just so all the world didn't see that I hate doing crunches with a fire that burns. It's $31 at lulus.com.

Flippin' amazing tiered polka dot skirt from White House Black Market. Perfect for work, or with some flats and a tee shirt for weekends. Or, you know, for your next appearance on the Today show. One must have goals.
