Michelle sparkles in Inauguration Day ensemble

Michelle2Kudos to Michelle Obama for getting her first official act as First Lady right.

She stepped out into the wintery chill this morning in a sunny, sparkling Inauguration Day dress and coat ensemble that echoes the wave of optimism her hubby gets to ride for at least one more day. She stuck with what works for her -- a just-above-the knee, slightly fitted dress that shows off her toned shape. The jeweled neck and matching jacket add subtle regal touches.

The outfit is by Cuban American designer Isabel Toledo, whose designs Michelle has worn before.

The only debate so far seems to be whether it's gold or yellow. One TV commentator called it lemon merengue. Either way, it is very 2009. And the tone goes well with blue, which is likely the color her poor bare legs will turn during the 10-degree swearing-in ceremony.Michelle3

We're still waiting, of course, for the Big Reveal. In what might be the best-kept national secret, no one has reported yet what Michelle will wear to the gazillion inaugural balls she must attend tonight. Stay tuned.

P.S. Did you notice Michelle's green pumps? I initially thought they were basic black, but am totally loving the less predictable choice.
