More eye tomfoolery: Eyeliner patches!
Awhile back, we introduced you to Chinese papercut eyelashes, the impractical but intricately beautiful answer to false lashes.
And now, Sephora carries Dior's new adhesive eyeliner patches, a set of four velvet appliqués that create instant cat-eye drama for those frantic last-minute trips down the fashion runway or impromptu New York City rooftop supermodel parties. Now, anyone can get that exaggerated winged-eye look made popular by the late Amy Winehouse, R.I.P.
Only $59 (noooo!) for these patches, some of which are crusted with sparkly crystals. Sephora claims they are "comfortable and easy to apply," and apparently re-usable, so at least you can pretend to get your money's worth.
A quick glance at the customer comments suggests otherwise, though. "Not one of them looked even remotely normal on my eyes," one commenter said. "No amount of trimming would make these realistic even for a dramatic night out." Another said, "So uncomfortable, I couldn't imagine wearing these all night." Save your money and just use gel eyeliner and shadow to create your own, someone suggested.
To be fair, some commenters loved these things and swore that, with a little bit of trimming, they were perfect.
Still, I can think of very few situations where this particular eyeliner style would fit into my life. Oh, who am I kidding, I can't think of any.
But Dior gets points for trying. I love innovative makeup dreams, even if they're slightly out of my reach.
