I’m getting huge. No, I haven’t busted my diet, although I am indulging in some extra calories. My belly has the best possible cause: I’m preggers.
Yet I’m not as comfortable in my growing skin as the women that today’s curve-hugging maternity clothes are built for. I just feel big. Which is why my heart skipped a little beat when someone who didn’t know me at a party this weekend was surprised to learn that I’m expecting. Sure, it was dark. And I was sitting down. But I also had dressed well.
And I'm sure I'll still be using these belly-slimming tricks long after the baby arrives:
- Show off your most flattering attribute. In my case, my legs still look, well, normal. A short skirt drew attention away from the big bump riding above them.
- Work the accessory. A bold accessory, like this scarf my mother brought me from Poland, helps to mask what’s underneath it. And it also dresses up a basic t-shirt.
- Black is a slimming color. Never forget.
How’d I do? Judge for yourself. The first photo shows my front view; the second showcases my long gone waistline.
