My Outfit Monday: There's a party on my arm...
...and you're all invited!
Remember Leandra Medine, better known as the Man Repeller? We interviewed her last year about her biting take on fashion, namely that anything really stylized repels the male species. I'm still a huge fan of her blog, and she inspired me this weekend. It was my boyfriend's 30th birthday party. The theme was "beer." No, really. So, given the casual and frothy goings on, I had to pick an outfit that was relatively casual while still fun and festive. I opted for a red and purple Forever 21 leopard tank, skinny jeans from Old Navy (stretch to allot for beer, natch), and my new bow booties, dug out of a totally chaotic clearance sale at JC Penney on the Fourth of July. $20! Here I am in a completely natural, candid, unposed shot.
Right before getting ready, I visited the Man Repeller and saw her latest obsession -- the Arm Party! She basically invites as many bracelets as possible to the festivities and lets it ride till the morning, baby. I thought this was a good idea for ringing in my guy's next decade. If you can't overdo the bracelets on someone else's birthday, when can you? Since I live in suburban Pinellas County and not the Upper East Side or whatever, my arm party was a little more understated than the Repeller's. But the spirit is the same. My bracelets and ring all came from Dillard's.
The only bad part? My arm was completely black the next morning. It looked like the bubonic plague. Time to spread some clear nail polish on those puppies. The party must go on.
